FLAGSHIP LS SEDAN GAINS MORE TECHNOLOGY TO MAINTAIN POSITION AS THE ULTIMATE IN REFINED LUXURY
The flagship Lexus LS 500 and LS 500h now deliver an even more refined luxury experience than before with updates to the 2023 range bringing seamless access to information, communication and entertainment via the latest connectivity technology.
Part of the improved usership experience comes with the expansion of Lexus Connected Services1 and more multimedia and remote functions, while wireless Apple CarPlay®2 is now standard alongside wired Android Auto™3.
The most up-to-date Lexus multimedia system allows occupants to interact through the new touchscreen display (screen size remains 12.3 inches) which replaces the previous touchpad in the centre console.
The new shape of the centre console is refined to allow easy smartphone storage without needing to open or close a lid.
A multimedia highlight of the updated LS is the "Hey Lexus" voice recognition function which can be activated by pressing the talk button on the steering wheel, the microphone icon on the display, or simply through voice activation. The system is set up to recognise prescribed standard phrases through conversational language.
In addition to existing LS safety and security features of Automatic Collision Notification4, SOS Emergency Call5 and Stolen Vehicle Tracking6, the upgraded LS now adds benefits such as Lexus Multimedia Connect which synchronises the Lexus Connected app7 with the multimedia system to offer cloud-based connected navigation with live traffic, weather, parking and map updates, location searching, and first- and last-mile routing.
Lexus Status Connect features offer a wealth of vehicle data and information all accessible at the owner's fingertips, including odometer and fuel level readings, remaining range, the vehicle's last known location, vehicle diagnostics data and recent trip details.
Owners can also now remotely check whether the doors, windows, boot and bonnet are closed and locked, and receive alerts if unlocked or open. Tyre pressure status can also be remotely monitored and hazard lights activated by a press on a smartphone screen.
Finally, Lexus Remote Connect features allow owners to remotely start the car's engine and lock/unlock the doors.
The standard Panoramic View Monitor4 - which combines images from the front, rear, left and right side cameras of the vehicle and projects them on the centre screen - now has a new underbody transparent display function.
Exterior changes are minimal with deletion of the Lexus badge on the boot lid, deletion of Hybrid badge on the lower rear doors, deletion of blue hue from the Lexus brand logo badge and '500h' model name badge.
The LS 500 continues to be powered by the smooth 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 310kW and a sublime 600Nm from 1600-4800 rpm for effortless performance, while the LS 500h features a naturally aspirated V6 of the same capacity with a multi-stage hybrid system offering 264 kW for the perfect blend of performance and economy.
These subtle but significant enhancements to the LS 500 and LS 500h follow a comprehensive update in February 2021, and culminate to ensure the flagship Lexus sedans maintain their position as leaders in full-size rear-drive luxury.
The revised LS 500 and LS 500h are now on sale priced from $195,9208.
